Reducing harms

Rationale: CADS does not endorse the use of illegal substances and believes that no drug use is the safest option. However, CADS recognises that some people will choose to use substances for a variety of reasons. Minimising the harm associated with substance use is CADS’ philosophy and practice.

CADS provides information about reducing the harms associated with alcohol and other drug use so people can:

  1. Make informed choices
  2. Reduce the risks associated with their drug use
  3. Think twice before using
  4. Be reminded that all mind altering drugs including alcohol affect your ability to drive (even if you feel you are still capable). It is not ok to drive while under the influence of any of these substances.
